How long will PhotoRocket keep my photos?

When you share a photo, PhotoRocket automatically keeps a backup copy in your account for free at photorocket.com. The backup will be kept by us for as long as you remain an active PhotoRocket user. If something happens to the photos on the computers or mobile devices that you shared from, you can download/recover print-quality versions of those lost memories.

PhotoRocket also keeps the original, full-resolution versions of your photos in your account for free during our Beta launch period, and those are also downloadable for free. In the future, we may roll out premium subscription services to make protecting your full-resolution photos and memories even more efficient and reliable.

What should I do if my friends aren't receiving my shared photos?

When you share photos with your contacts, PhotoRocket notifies them with our reliable email delivery system. If our notifications are not reaching your contacts, be sure they check their Spam or Junk folder as a first step.

Most spam filters, over time, learn what they consider to be spam and sometimes our notifications get stuck in the muck.

Notifications can also be delayed by high levels of internet traffic. Normally our notifications arrive quickly but sometimes it helps to give them a few extra minutes to get delivered.

How can I change the contact names in my PhotoRocket address book?

When you enter a new email address, PhotoRocket automatically generates a name for your contact. To modify a name, position your mouse over that name in the list, click on the "i" that appears to the right of the name. When contact details appear, you can update the name or email address for that contact, then click the "Save" button.

How do I share photos to other photo sharing destinations and social networks?

PhotoRocket currently supports posting a link to your photo galleries on Facebook and Twitter. You can enable sharing to these sites from your PhotoRocket app and the "Settings" area of the PhotoRocket website. Under "Connect to Destinations" click "connect" next to the web service you want, then follow the instructions to give PhotoRocket permission to share your photos there.

Once you've enabled a service, the icon for that service will appear as enabled in the PhotoRocket app. Just click on the icon as you would click on any contact in your list.

PhotoRocket Galleries

What is a PhotoRocket Gallery?

A PhotoRocket Gallery is an online space for people to contribute and collaborate around photos. Once a gallery is created, the creator may invite others to contribute their photos to the gallery. From there, the group gathers their photos together and can present them in many ways with several layouts, theme colors, orders and elements to make the set of photos look great.

How do I add photos to my gallery?

When you create a photo gallery using the PhotoRocket website, a window appears prompting you to create a gallery using photos from your computer or Facebook photo albums. You can also add photos to your gallery by clicking the "Add Photos" button near the upper left hand corner of the gallery creator.

Text boxes are an element of the gallery itself. Text boxes help narrate the photos or event.

What is the difference between a caption and a text box?

Captions appear below your photos. They are appropriate for short titles or explanations of individual photos. Hover over a photo to view a caption, and click on the caption to edit it.

Text boxes appear as a piece of media in your gallery. They help give context to the group of photos, rather than to individual photos. Like photos, they can be moved into position by dragging them around the page.

In all layouts, “zoom mode” offers an expanded view of individual photos or text. Enter zoom mode by clicking on the desired photo.

How do I reorder photos in my gallery?

You may reorder photos (or text) in any view layout. To do this, click and hold the photo you'd like to move, drag it to the desired location in your layout, and release your click. The element you dragged will switch places with the element currently occupying that space.

What are 'layouts' and 'themes' and what can I do with them?

Layouts are different ways to view and present your gallery. The Collage layout presents your gallery in an artistic, design-minded view that allows for different-sized elements. The Flow layout presents your gallery in a vertical, waterfall-like view that keeps all elements in a linear order. The Grid view presents your gallery as large thumbnails for a comprehensive look at all your photos.

Themes are the mood of your gallery. Themes consist of background colors, fonts and embellishments. You may change themes by clicking any of the buttons in the side toolbar under the title "Style." We look forward to bringing you more specialty and seasonal themes soon!

What will PhotoRocket do with my Facebook account if I create an account using my Facebook ID?

Signing up with PhotoRocket via Facebook gives us permission to do two things: to access your email address (so we can notify your friends when you invite them to view a Gallery) and to post a link to your Galleries on your Facebook wall (when you share photos to Facebook). PhotoRocket will never post anything on your wall, or on your friend’s walls, unless you give us permission.

Why do I have to sign up?

You must sign-up to invite your friends to view a gallery. You must also sign-up to comment on, customize or contribute to a gallery.

The sign-up requirement assures your protection. Requiring a sign-in helps us protect our users from spam, unwanted collaborations and false impersonation.

Sharing

How do I invite my friends to contribute to my gallery?

When you are finished designing your gallery, click on “Invite people to contribute” in the right hand tool bar. From there, select your contacts and publish your gallery. Be aware that all friends invited to view your gallery may also edit, delete and contribute to your photos. When sharing to Facebook and Twitter, your galleries will be view only (meaning that they are in an uneditable state).

How do I share my gallery without allowing others to edit it?

On the left side of the gallery is a button that says, "Share." Clicking this presents you with the option to post to share the album to people via email or their Facebook account. Both options then present you with the choice to invite people to view your gallery or to view and contribute to your gallery.

What happens when I share to Facebook or Twitter?

By sharing your gallery to Facebook or Twitter, you are asking PhotoRocket to publish a view-only link on your wall or feed. The link directs viewers to PhotoRocket, where they can view your gallery. These view-only links allow visitors to view, but not contribute to your gallery.

If you want to further customize your gallery, you may do so on PhotoRocket.com.

iPhone: The iPhone app can send multiple pictures to multiple destinations, in one action. Select photos you want to share, enter the email address(es) of the people you want to share with, and hit the share button to publish your gallery. Early PhotoRocket Users

What happened to my old photo sets?

PhotoRocket “sets” have now become PhotoRocket Galleries. All of you old photos have been transferred to your Galleries page (find a link to this page in the top site navigation). They appear in their original groupings, in order of most recently shared or received.

Can I still share uneditable, static groups of photos?

Yes. To do this you must copy and paste the link from the upper right corner of your gallery (found beneath “Share this”) into an email to send to your friends. This link allows viewers to look at, but not to edit, your gallery. Clicking the Facebook and Twitter icons also distributes the uneditable, static gallery view.
